I am super excited to be a part of this talented team of crafters!  This month's challenge is Anything Goes.  I have recently discovered my love for making altered items, and when I saw the new distressed wood prints from My Mind's Eye, I knew they were perfectly suited for an altered birdhouse.

I cut and adhered a blue weathered wood print to the house using a tape runner.  I lightly inked the corners with dark brown ink.  I cut out the circle with a craft knife after I adhered the front panel.

The roof was my favorite part to do!  First, I covered the top of the roof and all of the edges in red paper so the wood would not show between rows of shingles.  To make the shingles I cut paper strips of varying widths into different lengths.  I gently curled the shingles around my finger adhered each row of shingles to the roof using a tape runner.  It doesn't look like much, but I used nearly an entire piece of 12"x12" paper just for the roof!  Lastly, I just tucked little bits of reindeer moss under the shingles.

The MME collection pack came with die-cut banner segments that I trimmed down to fit my space.  I placed stickers on the banner and adhered the flags to baker's twine using liquid glue.  I finished the banner by gluing on little twine bows.

I used my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the roses.  I sanded the paper for a more distressed/vintage look.  I wrapped genuine vintage ecru seam binding (that my MIL bought in the 70s) around the birdhouse and tied it into a simple bow.

And here's the finished product!  The last thing I did was hot glue some Spanish moss and a bird on the birdhouse entry and glue another bird to the perch.  I placed the birdhouseon an old brass (?) candlestick to photograph.  I was going to trim the ribbon, but it looked so pretty hanging loosely from the bottom of the birdhouse.
